I have lived in Hill Wynd, Haddington just over a year and find recycling glass, paper, sometimes cardboard no problem but plastic!!!!!!!!!!! yes there is now a small recycle bin outside council offices, not big enough for large plastic milk cartons. I have my own recycle bags can I leave these out for recycle lorry or where can I get green blue boxes from?

sustainable transport is definately an important topic, and we would LOVE to have an event about it. Any ideas about what would be good?

In the meantime, we have come across a few web sites that might be useful:

www.liftshare.com - does what it says on the tin.

www.livingstreets.org.uk - working to make the streets better places for pedestrians

www.sustrans.org.uk - all about sustainable transport and they have a safe routes to school project.

There was another one about setting up mini private bus routes, which I will post when I find it.

Please could you organise an event around reducing car use - car-sharing, car clubs, walking children to school, cycling

Also about Transition Towns?

Thanks

It seems a shame the streetlights are still on, but I suppose that's unavoidable. The overall ambience reminds me of those sci-fi movies where all the people have disappeared, leaving only a shopping trolley (second down on the left).

The 2009/10 budget, which includes the £100m-a-year home insulation package requested by the Warm Scotland campaign, passed the first stage of parliamentary scrutiny tonight. See this BBC news report:

Hi Elisa

Read your suggestion, but sorry to say I do not think it such a great idea.If I did put a knot in the handles I would have to knot both handles which would not be good, alternatively if I knotted the handles together then I would not be able to gain access into the bag, also I personally do not fancy walking around with a new bag I specifically bought for carrying shopping with knots in the handles. My suggestion would be that any bags made from now on had much shorter handles as I am sure most other people who bought the bag would agree. I will probably use the bags for something else and hopefully purchase and use another if the handles are much shorter. As I stated yesterday the bag has a very large carrying capacity which is great when carrying bulky items. I hope you get more feedback from others. Thanks for the prompt reply.
