Local action on climate change and sustainable living

Funding for Events Programme

We did it! We (Sustainable Haddington) have been given some money by the Climate Challenge Fund to host a programme of community events to raise awareness of climate change and how it can be tackled locally. We have quite a few ideas, and have organised some, but we still need lots more!  So far we have a  clothes swap and a food event planned (see events).  Is there anything you would like to see us do, or something you would love to know more about?

  1. Please could you organise an event around reducing car use – car-sharing, car clubs, walking children to school, cycling

    Also about Transition Towns?

    Thanks

  2. sustainable transport is definately an important topic, and we would LOVE to have an event about it. Any ideas about what would be good?

In the meantime, we have come across a few web sites that might be useful:

http://www.liftshare.com – does what it says on the tin.

http://www.livingstreets.org.uk – working to make the streets better places for pedestrians

http://www.sustrans.org.uk – all about sustainable transport and they have a safe routes to school project.

There was another one about setting up mini private bus routes, which I will post when I find it.
